HCL Infosystems has bagged an Rs 40 crore contract from the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Indian government for digitizing data collected by the Census of India.
The company will work with the government agencies to digitize the data collected from Census of India project in 2010-11. The scope of the project will also involve maintenance, indexing, scanning and storage of data at a central repository along with the task of digitizing the data collected from across the country.
The company will also process data including images under the project and it will extract the information in English language format. HCL will make use of specially built software and other tools to crosscheck the data collected.
The company will gather information from about 55 crore survey forms and 1.10 crore images and the data will be stored in 15 different project locations spread across the country.
