Airbus and Boeing face rivals jitters

Airbus and Boeing face rivals jittersThe jet market that has been dominated by big daddies like Airbus SAS and Boeing Co. for almost a decade is now experiencing sleepless nights.

The reason for this is the advent of rivals from Canada, China and Russia into the mammoth jet market that is projected to reach out to $1.68 trillion in next 20 years.

However going with the current flow, Airbus has already won 131 orders while Boeing has won 177 in the same period. At present around 10,000 Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s are in the operation in the industry while 4,000 are on order basis.

This changing dynamics will initiate at Farnborough Air show, world's largest aerospace exhibition commencing on19th of this month. As China's state owned Comac and Russia’s Irkut will announce their jet models development.

And in another two years time the Bombardier’s CSeries jet will also join the league. Interestingly, one field where the two companies still dominate is the market for larger wide-body planes.
