Cheer Up News for Parents: Dental Hub at Kaitaia HospitalThere is good news for the people of Northland. Now, parents need not to worry about the oral health care of the children of the state. In Northland, the dental damage is found to be twice the national average.

Kaitaia Hospital has been provided a dental unit worth $750,000, which is one of its kinds. It was inaugurated on July 14. Kawakawa, Rawene and Whangarei are the locations for another three such hubs.

Annually, 750 children will be checked for any kind of oral problems by the unit. The hub will also provide education to children and their families regarding dental care. The services like preventative care, diagnostic services and restorative services will also come under its purview. The children between the age group 0-17 years will be treated by this unit.

Earlier, dental mobile units were initiated in the state. The approval for the dental hub and mobile units were granted two year back on 21 October 2008 and an amount of $4.88 million was allocated for providing dental services in Northland.

The new Kaitaia Hospital dental clinic will be having the best of dentists, dental therapists, dental assistants, educators, promoters and administrative staff.

People now have more and adequate options to get their children the best of the dental services.
