IT service provider, SAP has said today that it has received a contract from the Indian Navy to for the setting up an on-line financial information system. SAP Chief Operating Officer EMEA and India, Franck Cohen said, "SAP has secured the contract through system integrator Wipro and will help the Indian Navy in unifying its business processes and automate financial systems."
The company did not disclose the financial value of the details. "Our solution will help the Indian Navy lower overall maintenance costs, improve management decision-making and resource management, therefore enhancing combat-readiness," he added. Mr. Cohen also outlined the importance of the the government sector for the growth of the company in the country. He says that there are a lot of opportunities in the sector and the company will explore them.
SAP is also working with the public sector firms like BSNL, ONGC and HPCL in the country. SAP is the global leader in leader in the business software market and also have other initiates in the country particularly in the training field. It focuses on training talent in India and it offers workshops to introduce SAP offerings.
The associated SAP University Alliances Program helps promote business and information technology education in educational institutions by offering students and lecturers and access to SAP software. There will also be a SAP Academic Conference India 2010 organized by SAP in India. More than 80 professors from more than 50 colleges and universities across the country will attend the conference.
