Health reforms to benefit elders

Health reforms to benefit eldersPreventive care would be more affordable for seniors following the health insurance reform law signed by President Obama. To implement two key provisions of the act, the Obama administration proposed new rules on June 25 and July 2. Before November this will be finalized and provisions can take effect by January 1 next year.

It was stated that in America preventive services are used at about half the recommended rate. This is happening due to direct result of cost, including cost sharing.

Out-of-pocket costs for many preventive services will not be paid by Medicare beneficiaries from January and this includies an annual wellness visit with a physician.

There will be many services that would be free for the beneficiaries like review of medical and family history, review of functional ability and level of safety, personal risk assessment and more.

No charge will be taken for services which Medicare already covers.

More preventive services after they get available and are recommended by the U. S. Preventive Services Task Force will be added by Medicare. Several deaths every year would be prevented by this.
