Health insurance companies get new rules

Health insurance companies get new rulesHealth insurance companies on Wednesday were handed out a set of new rules by the White House about giving coverage for screenings, various types of preventive care and lab tests absolutely free.

Consumers if take services would be benefited significantly as services would be easily available and will be more affordable.

As of now, people in America do not make use of preventive services as recommended by health experts, the government said.

This step will finish charges on blood pressure, cancer screenings, prenatal care, vaccinations, co-payments, deductibles, diabetes and cholesterol tests, wellness visits for kids.

Smokers who wish to quit smoking, screening and counseling for obesity, and tests for figuring out HIV/AIDS will also be offered for free.

Kenneth E. Thorpe, a professor of health policy at Emory University in Atlanta said, “Getting rid of cost-sharing is a long-overdue step in the right direction. But we will have to do a major public education campaign to get people to take advantage of these clinical preventive services.”

About 31 million people would be benefited by the rules that will be in new employer-sponsored plans and next year about 10 million people will get the benefits, as they would be in new individual plans next year.
