Diabetes will be having single shot solution very soon

Diabetes-InsulinNews of hope and aspiration is possibly on the cards for people suffering from diabetes who is under insulin regime and that has to be taken more than once in a day to arrest it.

According to a group of Indian researchers who have created a form of insulin which according to them stays in the system for up to 120 days in rats and mice, with only a single dosage of  injection. If the regime is successful in human body then a single dose can see them through for many days.

According to Avadhesha Surolia who is one of the researchers and the acting director of the National Institute of Immunology based in Delhi, people are scared of pricking themselves, which results in the non compliance of patients. As of today insulin is reckoned as the best treatment for diabetes so the researchers are trying to create a form of insulin which can have controlled release capacity.

The researchers are focusing mainly on type 1 diabetes where the insulin –producing mechanism is attacked by the body itself. The insulin may work for type 2 diabetes called the “adult onset”

Three years of time was taken by the research and it would publish its findings in the journal of the National Academy of the Sciences any time this week. An American company has already taken the license of the findings and it plans to test the newly formed insulin on human beings.

According to research the number of people getting affected with diabetes will rise sharply in the times to come and Indian are more susceptible to this disease due to their food habits which invariably contain high amount of fat and oil and their tendency to put on weight.
