Weight Loss can relieve hot flashes

Weight Loss can relieve hot flashesLosing weight can be your answer to reducing hot flashes, often termed as hot flushes. A new study has stated that the uneasy feeling of sweaty spells that accompany menopause can be tackled with weight loss.

Alison Huang, M. D., the lead author of the study and a professor of internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, said, "If you're a woman who is overweight or obese, you can substantially improve your hot flashes by losing weight through diet and exercise."

She added that, "Weight loss can make a real difference in your symptoms and quality of life right now."

It was stated by earlier researches that worse hot flashes were experienced women who had higher body-mass indexes.

About 150 women were studied to compile a data that was further analysed by Huang and her colleagues. The women often experienced troublesome hot flashes and urinary incontinence.

About two-thirds of the women were made to lose about nine per cent of their body weight.

After about six months later, it was noticed that these women saw an improvement in hot flashes.
