NHS restructuring plan is ‘weak’

NHSA report has stated that GPs will not be as effective as thought as health trusts at commissioning NHS services and has termed the step ‘weak’.

According to think-tank Civitas, as compared to primary care trusts (PCTs) that is actually pulling the strings at the moment, GPs will be much better at the job.

According to the report a ‘one-year dip’ in performance in the NHS would take place due to the Government's plans.

If the NHS did not witness any structural change, it would have achieved lot more than what now will take three years seeing he changes.

Next week about b0 per cent of NHS’s budget, which means about £80 billion, would go to GPs ad Health Secretary Andrew Lansley announces his aims in a White Paper.

A roll back would be seen in the role of strategic health authorities and PCTs as most of the NHS budget, commissioning services for patients, is controlled by the PCTs.

According to Lansley GPs are better at understanding the needs of their patients ad are better decision-makers on how and where to spend the money.
