Wirral’s 17th Race For Life was organized and more than four thousand females participated for helping the Cancer Research UK on Sunday.
However, Race Coordinator Helen Wright, from Cancer Research UK, said that the number was less than expected. But, Wright admitted that regardless of the lesser number of participants, the event saw an enthusiastic atmosphere where all those who participated enjoyed being a part of the noble cause.
Wright admitted that now the raised money will be used in aiding the Cancer Research so that it continues with the work which is much needed.
Last year’s event was attended by 5139 women, who collectively raised £208,000 and made the event one of the most successful of the region.
The event Race for Life, for last 16 years have been contributing to supporting Cancer Research UK's work. These efforts have brought down the number of deaths from this disease by 15%.
The event is organized in various regions with the same basic purpose especially in summers across UK. In Southampton, Race for Life is expected to see 10,000 women participants. Scheduled on 11 July, participants will walk the 5k route in Southampton Common.
