It has been reportedly said that the transfer of community health services, to new service providers will not interfere with the manner of operation of the staff’s job. In a meeting held last month, the Primary Care Trust (PCT) Executives presented progress report to the council health supervisors.
Earlier, last week, the Government banned PCTs from providing the community health services including health visitors, schools nurses, district nurses and others and it was ruled that PCTs should transfer them to other providers by April next year.
With this decision, the performance of PCTs, including NHS Berkshire East, and the standards of community healthcare, are set to improve as after the implementation of the plan, PCTs will be controlling the bodies and the budgets, but it will not be permitted to directly offer services.
As a part of this move, NHS Berkshire East has decided to transfer the services to Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The trust currently offers its services in mental health, drug and learning disabilities related complications.
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust presented a report related to the matter in front of health overview and scrutiny panel of Bracknell Forest Council.
Foundation trust’s Chief Executive, Philippa Slinger, and Nancy Barber, the Director of Berkshire East Community Health Services confirmed that the process is operating as per the schedule.
