Sauble Beach is open for swimming once more, but now a miniature Owen Sound beach by the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is seen to be unsafe for swimming.
The water results, which is based on samples that had been taken on Wednesday and were reported on Friday, led to great respite at Sauble Beach and doubt in Owen Sound.
Thousands are projected to attend the Big Music Fest concerts at Kelso Beach today in Owen Sound. Kelso is right in front of the harbor from where sampling was done.
A public health official could not confirm if swimming was safe at Kelso and so the official was left to offer general recommendation.
It's tricky to know for certain whether the waters are safe, said Andrew Barton, Manager of Health Protection.
He said that if one can see his feet quite clearly, then there are fair chances that the water quality is pretty levelheaded.
Water currents in the bay and two days of steady, sunny weather ever since samples were taken in all probability bettered the circumstances, Barton added.
The next sample results will not be obtainable before Wednesday.
Staff at South Bruce Peninsula, which comprises Sauble Beach, instantly took down the 'swim at own risk' signs on Friday and issued a news release.
