It took no less than five years for this girl residing in Chennai, who is a former mental illness patient to make a recovery.
She has returned to her town, where every month, she is provided with the medicines she has been recommended to take by the doctors.
Padma (name changed), has confessed that she is one of the lucky patients to have been able to make a recovery from the condition, she had been facing, since the treatment offered to patients suffering from similar circumstances is not up to the mark.
She spoke about her horrible experiences at a three-day seminar on “Perspective on Mental Illness in India”, on Thursday, which was organized by The Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health.
She said that it was only in Chennai that could have received her treatment. She spent five years in the Banyan, apart from a period that she spent in the Institute of Mental Health.
Medication is still a problem for her to receive as it has been six months since she came back home from the institute.
People, living in her town either have to visit Coimbatore or Kerala so that they can obtain medicines for her condition.
