After having a baby, a mother finds herself stuck in the most binary arguments like to breastfeed or not to breastfeed; to vaccinate or not to vaccinate. Kathryn Blundell, the Deputy Editor of Mother and Baby magazine, takes to formula feeding her baby as she regards her breasts a part of her sexuality.
There is a relationship between breastfeeding and sex, as women who don't like breastfeeding, they don't like sex.
Breastfeeding is intuitive, easy, efficient, emotional and fulfilling. But for some people, it is not that easy a task. Some women couldn't get enough milk going, while some women have too big nipples and a baby with a too-small mouth. Some women suffered from postnatal depression and had to stop breastfeeding to take the Prozac.
A charity called Best Beginnings that aims to promote breastfeeding confidence said, “Did you know babies who aren't breastfed are five times more likely to end up in hospital with serious tummy bugs? Or that in countries like Australia or Norway, people think breastfeeding is as normal as putting the kettle on?”
Breastfeeding definitely protects babies against gastric bugs. Middle-class babies do better, as the babies tend to be breastfed.
