Boeing Cleared Two Planes Set to Fly Next Flight Tests

Boeing Cleared Two Planes Set to Fly Next Flight TestsBoeing is disappointed with the 787 Dreamliner, as it has found some defect in the tail part of the plane. The Company had made it clear last week that it will inspect the entire fleet before the test flights.

Boeing's 787 Dreamliner stayed parked after the inspection. However, the two aircrafts, which are planned to fly the next flight tests, have been cleared to go.

Scott Fancher, Head of the 787 Dreamliner program said, “Boeing was first aware of the horizontal stabilizer issue last week, but it didn't escalate into an issue affecting flight tests until Thursday morning”.

Directors told their flight-test squads on Saturday afternoon to get prepared and to take those two planes back into the air on Sunday.

The 787 Dreamliner parked after engineers found workmanship defects in some of the horizontal tails constructed by Italian 787 partner Alenia.

In total, 25 tails will have to be inspected and then, the Company tried to fix up the flaws, but the main concern was to get those two airplanes examined rapidly, so that the flight tests could be started.

On Sunday, Dreamliner No. 2 is anticipated to leave the field of Boeing, where it has been parked since Wednesday. Dreamliner No. 3 is set to fly back to Seattle and it was parked in Arizona, since Tuesday.
