Tea Consumption Reduces Heart Diseases: Researchers

TeaAccording to a latest Dutch study, sufficient consumption of tea or coffee in a day reduces the risk of developing heart ailments in the people, by nearly one-third.

The study examined more than 38,000, for nearly 10 years, monitoring the risks of heart attacks, cardiovascular incidents and death.

They observed that sufficient of coffee reduced the risk of heart related problems in the regular consumers, against those who didn't take any amount of tea or coffee, during the day.

However, the results have been criticized by the researchers, who claim that excessive intake of tea or coffee elevates risk of rheumatoid arthritis in women.

The present study conducted by University Medical Centre Utrecht researchers, claimed that the risk of developing heart ailments reduced by 45% in the regular consumers of tea.

"High tea consumption is associated with a reduced risk of CHD mortality. Results suggest a slight risk reduction for mortality with moderate coffee consumption", said the researchers.

The study concluded that there is a relation between tea and coffee consumption and reduction in the heart disease risk.

However, it was found that few of the subjects died during the study.
