A study has revealed that overweight women who have a resistance to insulin are able to reduce more weight if they are on a diet, which has less carbohydrate as compared to conventional diet having low fats, with similar calories.
The study was conducted on forty-five overweight women, who were between the ages of 18 to 65 years .All these women were resistant to insulin.
The study was conducted by the team of researchers lead by Raymond Plodkowski, who is the Chief of Nutrition, Metabolism and Endocrinology at the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine in Reno.
Mr. Raymond revealed that the conventional diet advised by doctors for reducing weight is a low fat diet. He revealed that the study conducted by him highlights the fact that all people do not respond similarly to such diet.
He disclosed that people who are resistant to insulin metabolize carbohydrates and this may have an effect on their weight loss. He further added that for such people a diet, which has fewer carbohydrates, is more effective.
The study found that insulin resistant women having a diet less in carbohydrates lost 3.4 pounds more, as compared to those women who have a low-fat diet.
