Study Shows That Women Are At a Higher Risk of Stress than MenA study reveals that women are at a higher risk of having stress as compared to men. The reason behind it is that women are more receptive towards the hormonal changes in their body.

The team of researches was lead by Rita Valentino from the children Hospital of Philadelphia and Debra Bangasser from the Farber Institute of Neurosciences of Thomas Jefferson University.

The study also revealed that women are less capable of managing their stress than men. Thus, higher levels of stress problems and post traumatic stress levels are more prevalent in women.

The study disclosed that the stress in women is due to CRF hormone. This hormone is produced in all mammals but it has a higher influence on women. Stress is associated with lower levels of this hormone in the body. Even higher levels of this hormone show detrimental effects.

The study was conducted on rats and depicted that this hormone has a higher influence on female rats. Male rats did not show any reaction to this hormone, as they prevented the hormone from binding, by decreasing the levels of protein in their body.

However, researchers are not certain whether this hormone has same effects in humans. Valentino revealed that researchers cannot assure that the biological system in human beings is the same as in rats.
