A new study has claimed that cars, which remain dirty and messy for long, pose a severe threat on the health of the drivers. They said that these dirty motorcars are home to a number of microbes like Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus.
In a trial, the researchers observed a car carrying germs and bacteria of nearly all types. They had picked up the car for a test, indiscriminately.
The study assessed the swab picked from another car. They found that the swab tested positive for Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus bacteria. Other parts of the car including gear-stick, door handles as well as gear-stick were also found carrying the germs.
Bacillus cereus is essentially a bacteria lies in the spores. They affect the skin when subjected to warmth or any nutritional item.
They lead food poisoning, nausea and diarrhea in human beings.
Anthony Hilton, reader in microbiology at Aston University, said, the bacteria causes sickness, deteriorating the health of the infected.
"People would be horrified at the prospect of eating from a toilet seat and they should be aware that eating from a dashboard may represent the same health hazards”, he added.
He further said that the weather is going all the more heated. Thus, there is a need of going extra careful, he said.
