People craving for sweets and other foods can have greater possibilities of blood-sugar and high risks of pancreatic cancer other than those who are not so fond of sweets and other related food items.
A study depicts that the glycemic index is related to the inclining level of blood sugar with the intake of food. High-glycemic index foods, like white bread and potatoes, leads to a sudden push in the level of blood sugar, on the other hand low-glycemic index foods, such as lentils, soybeans, yogurt and many high-fiber grains, gives rise to increase in blood sugar.
Pancreatic cancer is regarded as a more threatening cancer, with only about 5 percent of patients surviving for five years. Previously, symptoms are absent, and only common problems like indigestion which are unidentified can be seen. Habits like smoking and long-standing diabetes are the risk factors.
A research conducted on 326 Italians with pancreatic cancer who were expected to fill up a validated food-frequency questionnaire and their results suggested that sugar coated, processed carbohydrates may be linked to pancreatic cancer, rather than carbohydrates like fiber-rich grains, fruits and vegetables .
This is a step that has been undertaken to inform people that such diets could contribute to pancreatic risk because such foods have a major tendency of secreting the hormone insulin which further encourages the growth and division of cells in the pancreas increasing the chances of pancreatic cancer.
