Palm prints were produced by first enhancing the images and then taking a zoom in on the crests of the hand, by the fingerprint experts. This was the detailed evidence of Stephen Taylor, 29, of Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, as they reflected a database match with that of Taylor.
Later, Taylor also confessed the charge of handling stolen commodities and pleaded guilty in front of the police. These goods, stolen in the month of April, included over £4,000 worth watches, in a robbery from a house in Mottram Old Road, Stalybridge.
A raid took place, which also resulted in the assault of a 17 year old girl, subsequent to which, an inquiry was set up. Taylor was then heard by Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, who announced his arrest.
The images of the stolen watches were found in Taylor's mobile phone, Sony Ericsson W995, which was then taken into custody and scrutinized. These images were used at the Greater Manchester Police's Forensic Services Branch, where a specialist flipped and enhanced them over.
Detective Constable Pete Slater, of Ashton CID, said, "While there is absolutely no evidence to suggest Taylor was involved in the robbery, clearly he has at some point been in possession of the stolen items, which in itself is still a serious offence".
