WA Premier Says Health Bill Unacceptable

Colin-BarnettColin Barnett, the Premier of WA, has said that there is very less scope of the State Government agreeing over the implementation of the health reform proposed by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, Health Minister, Nicola Roxon said that the Federal Government has granted a fund worth $300 million to the state for the improvement of healthcare services.

She further said that if the State Government will pursue the negotiations for long, the money will directly be provided to the hospitals and other healthcare institutions in Western Australia.

“We are already considering options for how we could spend that money in WA so that it benefits the West Australian community”, she said.

The Federal Government doesn’t want the institutions to suffer due to the opposition held by Barnett, she added.

The commonwealth is aiming to bring into force the reform in the next two weeks.

However, Barnett said that the Government will not be able to achieve its goal. He added that the reform will not be accepted in the state.

In addition, WA Health Minister, Kim Hames said that not only the heath reform but also the proposed mining tax will be restricted from entering the regulations’ list of the state.
