Beverley Warner happened to identify the first indications of cancer in her grandson while exploring the family's holiday photographs. The 61 year old lady noticed an abnormal spot on three-year-old Ewan Boarder's eye.
Instantly she recalled the story, which she had read long ago, about a child with cancer spot on her eyes.
Beverley has been celebrated as the lifesaver by her family.
"It all started when Ewan complained of having a sore eye and at first the doctor thought it may be a cataract. But the alarm bells started ringing after I saw the photograph", said Beverley.
Ewan was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, which is an aggressive form of eye cancer. His eye was removed, last August and he has been undertaking chemotherapy.
Fortunately, the onset of cancer was less when it was detected. The toddler goes in for check-ups every three months now.
Also, every few weeks, the doctors replace his false eye. Beverley said that the treatment is effective and the kid is carrying off the treatment sincerely. She also said that Evan is used to the bumps and bruises now as he adjusts himself to see through only one eye.
