The lack of cash is the biggest obstacle towards a positive family life. Almost 36% of the parents stressed that it had a negative impact on family time. A survey has also found that a British family spends 49 minutes every day together. It also pointed that money is the biggest reason the families spend such a less time together.
These findings were reported after an extensive survey of parents and children was carried out across the country last month. The survey was published to mark the start of National Family Week today.
Almost one-third of surveyed people felt that quality -family time costs money while 68% feel that money is the main barrier in spending more time with their family members.
Children also seem to be thinking in a similar manner with almost 25% of those aged from 8 to 15 years felt that money is more important to them. They pointed that money is more important to them compared to health, education, sport or music.
The study was sponsored by National Family Week which is a coalition of groups concerned with family issues. It aimed to explore the most important issues facing the families across the country.
The report found that most of the families seem to be obsessed with money. The study also found that almost 36% of children wanted more holidays. Parents felt that holidays were one of the best examples of quality time.
The National Family Week in UK runs till June 6.
