DVT Can Affect Anyone and Everyone

DVT Can Affect Anyone and EveryoneIt is believed that earlier, DVT was thought to be a difficulty in surgery patients or the aged.

The thrombosis charity Lifeblood from the Office of National Statistics has obtained recent figures, which reveal a worrying number of adolescent people die because of the condition.

It was found by the charity that between 2005 and 2008, some 1,075 people aged 40 or under died of a blood clot. Of these, 60 were children or teenagers.

It has been said that any person can get affected and it's noticeably not just the elderly who get affected by deep vein thrombosis.

It is said that maximum deaths occur in pregnant women or people born with alleged "sticky blood".

According to lifeblood Director and haematologist professor Beverley Hunt, even if there is a minor pain in the leg, one would need to consult a doctor.

She said that a clot can shift up to the lungs with possibly lethal outcomes.

Professor Hunt said, "If the pain is persistent and you can't explain it and it's been there for a couple of days, see your doctor. The trouble is that these figures have made us all think again about what constitutes the symptom of a DVT and we are going to have to do some more research".
