The Israeli immigration officials issued a no entry notice to the West Bank for the US scholar Noam Chomsky. Professor Chomsky had a plan to give a lecture at Birzeit University as he is a master of philosophy and linguistics. Mr. Chomsky, aged 82, was trying to come from Jordan.

The spokesman of Israeli interior ministry have said that they are trying their best to clear up this matter and allow Mr. Chomsky to deliver his lecture. He has also said that it is not a big issue. The only reason behind this is a misunderstanding. It can be resolved soon. The professor has said that the officials were very polite and good but the government did not like him to deliver the lecture.

They are also angry because he is going to the Birzeit University but not to any Israeli university. The Israeli interior ministry spokesman has said that they have been trying to contact the military to find out a solution to this matter and once they would give the permission, then, there would be no reason to restrict him. Prof Chomsky has been saying against the Israeli policies on the Palestinian territories for a long time.
