People, who indulge in sleeping for less than six hours every night, are 12% more likely to die untimely as contrasted with those who take eight hours sleep.
The finding by the University of Warwick and Federico II University Medical School, Italy, shows an evidence of the straight association between diminutive duration of sleep and an augmented probability of dying ahead of time.
They pointed out that the preceding studies have shown that sleeping for six or less than six hours can have negative effects upon blood pressure, can give heart associated troubles, obesity, Type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol problem.
They also established that sleeping too much was as well linked with premature death in people.
This had been perceived because it was thought that, people who lived into extreme old age and if slept more, it ultimately made them healthier.
The recent research contradicted the findings and stated that sleeping for longer duration was related to indications of underlying depression and low level of physical activity.
Professor Francesco Cappuccio, Leader of the Sleep, Health and Society Program at the University of Warwick and Consultant Physician at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust stated that on one hand short sleep may represent ill health, longer sleeping duration represents even graver levels of ill health.
People in the modern society take lesser amount of sleep, which has been affected due to the lifestyle that people lead in today’s time.
