Israel Breast Cancer Collaborative for the Race for the CureAt a news conference here Wednesday announced the start of the Israel Breast Cancer Collaborative this fall along with the founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and Nancy Brinker. Close to 7,000 participants is expected by the Komen Group and the Race for the Cure on Oct 28 will be held outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. The event features a think tank on early detection, the Race for the Cure, and the Israel Mission delegation of scientists, cancer survivors and activists who want to serve the breast cancer movement in Israel.

“Sixteen years ago, Susan G. Kkomen’s very first international research grant went to Israel” said Barkat. It also said that it will allow personal imports of the Apple ipad into the country.

Hiipakka, a South Bend police officer, who was preparing to run in Mishawaka’s Race for the cure said, “Well, I have on thigh-high pink socks, and I'm wearing my compression shorts (under) a pair of pink shorts, I shaved my head in honor of my friend, Kelly Lindsley, It's all about support. I'm not easily embarrassed”. According to Cathy Lance, about 2,200 people took part in either the 3.1 mile run or the fitness walk this year. Lance said, “Last year, we had 1,400 participants and it looks like we have over 2,200 this year. It's been amazing. We had a lot more supporters out here and a lot more vendors and more teams were enrolled this year."
