Etisalat said in a statement that due to the damage to an important submarine cable in the Mediterranean Sea, the Internet traffic in the UAE is likely to be interrupted this weekend.

The owner of the cable has undertaken the repairs, the Sea-ME-We 4, other partners and concerned operators.

They are re-routing the traffic, so that there can be restoration of the cable as soon as possible.

"Etisalat has prioritised internet traffic and essential services, important to customers, to ensure that they continue to operate with minimal or no impact."

The Telecom operator du told that on its internet and international voice services that there has been no impact.
