Thanks to a Pune based company, there is now an indigenously developed cancer medicine which is available at a very reasonable rate. Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, which is a 100% vertically integrated division of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, on Wednesday commercially, introduced PEGEX in market across India.
PEGEX (Pegfilgrastim) comes with a promise to cut back the duration of neutropenia and also the occurrence of febrile neutropenia in all the patients who are treated with cytotoxic chemotherapy as a cancer treatment method.
CEO of Gennova, Dr. Sanjay Singh has shared that PEGEX would cost Rs. 17, 900, making it the most affordable brand when compared with the other pegfilgrastim brands, which presently come for over Rs. 27, 000.
"With the launch of PEGEX (Pegfilgrastim), Gennova is fulfilling its mission of offering cost-effective high-end technology medicines produced in India", Dr. Singh said.
Gennova already develops and markets its in-house brands of TNK-tPA (Tissue-Plasminogen Activator), GM-CSF (Granulocyte-Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor) and EPO (recombinant human erythropoietin, in addition to many other strong products.
