A top official told, by the end of the year all residents in the UAE should get an identity car.
Major General Nasser Al Menhali, assistant director-general of naturalization and residency explained there will be no further grace period after this time.
The well known news agency, WAM reported that he advised people to apply for the card this time, who don't have the cards.
In the beginning of this month, officials told that registration for the compulsory cards would be cut from a whole day to five minutes with the introduction of a series of new registration centers.
20,000 applicants per day would be able to process by these new centers that will roughly triple the present level.
Al Menhali told that the ID cards would be utilized to make more efficient and increase speed of all the ministry's services, including the issuance of passports, licenses for private security companies and firearms, in addition to certificates of compliance with civil defense security and safety requirements.
