Dubai Municipality for Banning Alcohol in Food

Dubai Municipality for Banning Alcohol in FoodThe Food Control Department of Dubai Municipality is going to take stiff measures against the use of alcohol in the preparation of food in Dubai's hotels. Those who will violate the rules would be slapped fines in the range of AED2,000 to AED20,000, according to a top official of the municipality.

Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Ali, Head of food inspection at the Food Control Department of Dubai Municipality said that use of alcohol in food would never be allowed in hotels. He, however, declined the adverse impact of the alcohol ban over business or tourism sector of the country.

Al Ali said, "There are a lot of different meals from around the world catered for in Dubai's restaurants, so the choice will still be there."

He said that inspectors from the department may serve a short period notice to the violators making fines as a last option. Meanwhile, some hotels are said to have banned alcohol while some are still violating the norms and breaching the trust of some Muslims and non-Muslims who do not like alcohol.
