Millennium to open new hotels in GCC

Millennium-LogoMillennium & Copthorne Hotels Plc, a leading hotel chain across the World, has decided to expand its presence in the UAE and Guld region by opening six brand new hotels in the coming year. The group aims to add over 2000 rooms through the forthcoming hotels coming up in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Makkah and Oman.

The company will open two hotels in Abu Dhabi, one each in Dubai, Makkah, Oman and Aden in Yemen according to the information provided by Rey Alcocer Vice President Operations at Millennium & Copthorn Hotels Plc, having over 130 hotels in the Far East, Europe and rest of the world.

Millennium & Copthorn Hotels will build a five-star 800-room hotel including a commercial complex to offer commercial and residential apartment. Yet another 200-room executive apartment hotel is also coming in the heart of Dubai at the Electra Street.

The hotels are being launched in the challenging period when UAE's overall hotel occupancy rate has declined 75 per cent in 2009 due to steep fall in commercial and tourism activities in the world owing to global financial crisis.
