Two Britons, named Ayman Najafi, 24, from Palmers Green and his female friend Charlotte Lewis, 25, were seen kissing in public in Dubai by a child, whose mother complained about it and now the couple may face up to a month in prison.

The couple filed an appeal in a Dubai court today; however they will have to wait three weeks to find out if they have been successful.

Last November, Najafi, who has lived in Dubai for the past 18 months, and Lewis were arrested, for they were accused of kissing, touching each other intimately and consuming alcohol.

As of now, the couple is free on bail, but was fined 1,000 dirhams (£178) for illegal consumption of alcohol. Their passports were taken under possession and were scheduled to be deported after the completion of their jail sentence.

The lawyer of the pair, Khalaf al-Hosani, said, "A lawyer for the pair said there had been no inappropriate kissing and the pair was just friends."

It will be on 4th April, when the verdict should come out.
