James Murdoch, the Chief of News Corp.'s European and Asian operations has called for strict measures to discourage the rising trend of violation of online copyright.
Speaking at a media conference held in Abu Dhabi, he said that those who are using online contents without proper authority need to pay for that for maintaining some level of sanity around property rights.
Mr. Murdoch said, "There's no difference between stealing a bag of Pringles or a handbag, and stealing material on the Web."
Earlier, Rupert Murdoch threatened to change the way of accessing all News Corp.-owned news websites. Some other newspaper groups have decided to charge from customers for accessing their online news. The move is aimed to mitigate the advertisement losses.
The Financial Times and the New York times have been working out strategies to introduce some free and paid online contents to the customers in a bid to add to their revenue.
News Corporation has also tightened its stance toward internet giant Google and threatened to pull its all contents from the search engine.
