Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and convener of the committee, Dr Farooq Sattar chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Child Camel Jockeys Thursday. A range of issues related to child jockeys were taken up at the meet.
A battery of high level officials and leaders including Federal Minister for Human Rights, Syed Mumtaz Alam Gilani, and Minister of State for Law and Justice, Mehreen Anwar Raja and Shahnaz Wazir Ali and senior officers of the ministries of foreign affairs, interior and law and justice attended the meet.
It was also decided to hold a meeting with the ambassador of UAE in Pakistan to further discuss the issue. It was also decided to enhance co-operation between the provincial governments and respective chief secretaries of Punjab and Sindh state of Pakistan.
It should be recalled that he Ministry of Interior of UAE and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2007 which was aimed to help the children involved in Camel Racing Project and who suffered injuries and metal harassment due to camel jockey.
