The UAE and the US have joined hands for further enhancing co-operation in the field of civil nuclear energy sector. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Anwar Gargash, and the US Energy Secretary, Steven Chu signed a MoU in this regard on Wednesday, according to the reports of local media.
The deal has been signed in line with US policy to encourage the use of nuclear energy for civilian purposes. US, according to the terms of the deal, would allow UAE to use its technical expertise in the field of nuclear energy.
Speaking to media after signing the agreement, Gargash said, "The arrangement is a further framework for co-operation between the two governments in the peaceful nuclear energy field."
The US Energy Secretary, Steven Chu also visited Masdar City, the only zero-carbon city of the World, and promised to help Masdar in its efforts to make judicious use of energy. He also asked for a more transparent mechanism for determining oil prices adding that prices volatility is disadvantageous both for consumers and producers.
