Indian schools in Dubai are receiving a flood of requests from middle income parents seeking admissions of their wards in the schools. However, the current capacity of schools is not meeting the rising demand making schools to request the government to allow morning and afternoon shift as a solution to bridge the gap between demand and supply.
The middle income group is unable to find school for admissions of their wards and parents are still going door to door for admitting their children despite closure of admissions in many schools.
It should be recalled that the Education Ministry of Dubai had earlier opposed the move to introduce shift system in schools. However, Ali Mehad, Director General at the Ministry said that the proposal would be taken seriously for accommodating more students.
School managements, waiting for the response of the government, said that the proposals, if approved, can double the intake of students in schools in the coming academic session.
GEMS education, the biggest private school operator in the UAE revealed that around 3,100 candidates applied for admission in its English High School in Sharjah against few hundred seats available in the school.
