Qatar and Turkey, already bearing strong trade ties, have proposed a co-operation penal for enhancing mutual trust and business ties. The Qatari-Turkish cooperation council was proposed after the meeting of Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Emiri Diwan.
Terming the joint cooperation council as a need of the hour for pushing the relations between two nations, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem said, "The Prime Minister of Turkey has proposed during our talks to set up a Qatari-Turkish cooperation council. Qatar welcomes that."
Both sides held a series of official talks and said that enhanced relations between both nations would prove very beneficial for the interest of the public of both nations. The Qatari Prime Minister congratulated the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his efforts to push the growth momentum of the country.
Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Qatar's Hassad Food, owned by Qatar's sovereign wealth fund and the Turkish firm Puccivan. Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem also assured full support to the Turkish companies for taking new assignments in the country.
