Federal Electricity and Water Authority in United Arab Emirates have selected Swiss power and automation technology group ABB for its various needs at power substations. The authority has planned to commission five new 132kV substations and revamp the existing substations which need technology expertise in addition to durable material.
ABB, under this power contract worth $104 million, will provide gas and air-insulated switchgear, power transformers, capacitor banks and all other safety and control mechanism required to upgrade and install new substations.
The electricity authority hopes to complete the projects in the 15 months deadline for meeting the growing industrial and domestic needs of energy.
Peter Leupp, head of ABB's power systems division, said, "These installations will enhance the capacity of the power grid to deliver reliable, efficient and high-quality electricity, and at the same time minimize the network's footprint."
