The Federal National Council, celebrating its 38th anniversary tomorrow, has played a key role in parliamentary life of the country through its wide range of suggestions and influencing the decision making process of the country. The legislative body is responsible for defending the interests of the country at various national and international meets.
It is due to the persistent efforts of FNC, the Arab parliaments got membership of the executive committee and women committee at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) for presenting country's stance on various issues at the international forum.
The body always extended rousing welcome to the visiting foreign dignitaries, briefing them about the UAE's stance over the issues of international importance. It managed to get support from various quarters on some strategically important issues useful for the national policy of UAE.
Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of Council said that the FNC - the UAE parliamentary diplomacy provided its valuable views at the Parliamentary Conference on the Global Economic Crisis in May 2009.
FNC speaker and team visited a large number of countries such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco Poland, Britain and Germany and registered many diplomatic successes.
