Iran which has been drawing worldwide criticism for its illicit nuclear program, has urged Gulf region countries that the Arab counties should standby Iran in case USA attacks the country. Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani said that Gulf countries should not allow USA to use their bases for attacking Iran.
Addressing a press conference in Kuwait, Larijani expressed, "States in the region which houses US military bases should know that these bases must not be used against Iran. The region should not become a launch pad for aggression against Iran."
Larijani, during a meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Ahmed Jaber Al-Sabah, called for brotherly and friendly relations with Gulf countries, demanding their cooperation for pushing economic growth of the country.
He also held a meeting with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Naser Mohammed Al-Sabah and Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, seeking their help for boosting investment opportunities in Iran.
Emir of Kuwait, meanwhile, expressed that Iran has a right like other nations to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. He added, "Iran has the right to use nuclear energy and we defend its right."
