Vitamin D Might Help Reduce risk of Colon Cancer

Vitamin-DResearchers have revealed that people with high levels of Vitamin D in their blood seem to be facing much lower risk of developing colon cancer. Those who had the highest level of the vitamin in their bloodstream seemed to have cut their risk of developing the condition by as much as 40%.

While Vitamin D can also be obtained from diet and supplements, sunlight is the natural source of the vitamin.

Various studies have already been carried out that suggest that there is a link between Vitamin D and colon cancer, but the evidence has always been inconclusive. Based on the cues provided, various European researchers set out to study the impact of the vitamin D that is already in the blood, as well as the effects produced by dietary intake of the vitamin and calcium, with regards to colon cancer.

In order to carry out one of the largest European studies, researchers’ analyzed data collected through over half a million studies and reach the conclusion that Vitamin D does, in fact, seem to keep colon cancer away.
