Kuwait for lifting ban on workforce recruitmentFadhel Ashkanani, the Chairman of the Kuwait Union of Domestic Workers' Office Owners has said that Indonesia should lift ban over recruiting workers from Kuwait and the country is capable to provide skilled workers for meeting its rising industrial needs.

Ashkanani urged the concerned authorities to expedite the process to resolve all issues related to workforce. He criticized the government for adding a discriminatory clause to the agreement which is against the interests of workers.

Ashkanani added, "The sudden ban on recruitment has adverse implications on both parties, and we can continue working based on the current agreement until we fashion a new one."

Meanwhile, Jamal Al-Dousari, the Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has announced certain changes in the Cooperative Societies Labor Law, making its mandatory for the board of directors of cooperative societies to have nine members for tenure of three years.

Faisal Al-Ghareeb, the Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs said that candidates that secured employment should report the authorities concerned with their certificates by January 25,
2010.
