$210 million Contract announced by Aecom with Abu Dhabi

With the aim to offer development management services for a big cultural district and for other projects in the United Arab Emirates, on Monday, Aecom Technology Corp. announced that it has entered into a contract with Abu Dhabi's Tourism Development and Investment Co.

According to said Los Angeles-based Aecom, "Revenue from the contract is estimated to exceed $210 million through 2013."

Aecom basically provides technical and management support services on average for construction projects. But with the signing of this contract, it will offer overall program management services, complemented by master planning, landscape architecture, economics and architecture-engineering services on certain facilities.

This district, dubbed as the Saadiyat Island Cultural District, once completed will have many exclusive museums, including Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum designed by Frank O. Gehry; the Louvre Abu Dhabi by Jean Nouvel; and the Sheikh Zayed National Museum designed by Lord Norman Foster. Other than this, this project also comprises of more than one million square feet of mixed-use facilities.

A statement issued by Chief Executive Officer John Dionisio informed, "We are excited to play a key role in bringing Saadiyat Island's Cultural District to life and further establishing Abu Dhabi's position as a premier international destination."
