Vice Foreign Minister Panich Vikitsreth said Wednesday, the government will be able to bring fugitive former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra with the conclusion of the extradition agreement with the United Arab Emirate (UAE) this year.
He explained that a negotiation on January 10-13 in UAE saw representatives of the two countries making some progress and needed some more discussion to reach the conclusion.
Panich said, "I expect the agreement could be concluded within this year." He added that the treaty did not aim only at Thaksin's extradition but would be applied for all cases.
In the next two months, Thailand will hold the next round of negotiation.
