There is no threat to nuclear facilities located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the government would take every possible step to ensure the safety of plants, said an official from the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority.
Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithy, Director General of the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority said that its leadership is fully concerned over security threats to the plants and drawing early warning system to avoid the risks of any kind.
Speaking in the sidelines of a conference in Abu Dhabi, Al Romaithy added, "Among the top priority, the UAE is early preparing for safety and security at nuclear facilities. We have commenced such arrangements since the early moments of planning for using nuclear power for peaceful purposes."
It should be recalled that the UAE government has signed a deal worth 75-billion-dirham awarding a contract to a Korea based consortium for building four nuclear reactors for meeting its power requirements which are expected to almost double by 2020.
UAE would import fuel for reactors from USA under a deal signed between two countries for providing nuclear fuel for its nuclear reactors.
