Dubai Police arrested a 23-year-old British woman for alleged illegal sex with her fiancee outside marriage. She has also been charged for illegal drinking outside licensed premises. The same women had lodged a complaint of her alleged rape by a waiter in a luxury hotel just after completing her engagement ceremony with her 44-year old boy friend in the city's hotel.

Confirming the arrest of two British nationals, the Foreign Office spokeswoman said, "We can confirm that two British nationals were arrested in Dubai on 1 January. Our embassy in Dubai is providing consular assistance."

The woman allegedly lost consciousness in the women's toilets of the Address hotel and a waiter from the same hotel raped her taking advantage of her semi-consciousness. Later, she was taken in the room by her fiancee who was unaware of the incident and somehow came to know what happened in that night in the next morning.

The police interrogated the couple as per strict decency laws of the land and later recommend her medical checkup besides giving her anti-pregnancy pills. The couple has been granted bail as per reports and is still in Dubai. They can be awarded strict punishment up to six years in case charges against the couple prove.
