The month long Dubai festival is going to start from January 28 which is expected to see a large number of people turning up for availing discounts and promotional offers from various companies. Indians have been making high share of visitors at the festival for their interest in discounted gold and jewelry.

Mohammad Kamali, the marketing head of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, added, "We find that Indian customers are interested in buying gold, availing of discounts and promotional offers. India and GCC are the main markets for us and this year we expect a 10 per cent uptake in Indian visitors."

The festival, being held from January 28 to February 28, is expected to see 60 per cent of jewellery retailers out of a total of 6,000 retailers attending the mega fair with new designs and promotional offers. Traders have been expecting good response from people despite tough conditions of economic market and slump in demand.

The festival is expected to end up with a turnover of USD 2.67 billion. Around 3.35 million visitors attended the fair in 2009, spending Arab Emirates Dirham 9.8 billion.
