NHS Stop Smoking Quit Kit Being Offered Free of Charge

The NHS Stop Smoking Quit Kit, which includes calming audio downloads and a "tangle" stress toy designed specifically to keep the hands occupied when one is longing to hold a cigarette, is being issued to smokers free of charge to help them kick the habit.

The kit also includes a range of aids to help them give up the habit to light up for good, including a toothbrush and a "health and wealth" wheel which calculates savings from not smoking anymore.

The kit has been launched as an effort to make the most of one of the most common New Year's resolutions people make - to quit smoking. A research has revealed that whopping 44% smokers have resolved to give up smoking this New Year.

"Stopping smoking is hard - it takes a lot of effort and willpower. At any time around seven out of 10 smokers actually want to quit smoking. NHS stop smoking services are rated as the best in the world, and smokers who quit by using free NHS support are up to four times more likely to be successful", said Public Health Minister Gillian Merron.

The Department of Health has been using a series of heart-touching advertisements to publicize the new kits, which include other interesting aids like a "train to win" willpower assessor and a wall chart to map progress.
